The Sistine Madonna, also called the Madonna di San Sisto. It is an oil painting by artist Raphael Sanzio. Raphael is well famous for his Madonna paintings. The Sistine Madonna is one of the best known. It has been hailed supreme among the world's paintings.
This painting was particularly influential in Germany. After World War II, it was relocated to Moscow for a decade before being returned to Germany. It is now a master piece of the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister.
In the middle of the curtains, The Madonna carried baby Christ, flanked by Saint Sixtus and Saint Barbara. St.Sixtus pointed to the ground that they should go to. Saint Barbara is praying for them. The beautiful St.Mary is showing a worried look, for saving human beings, she had to sacrifice her son. Little Chris was nestling in mum's arms with eyes wide opened. Seems he had known his mission.
